Air & Hammers, a duo comprising performing arts faculty member Edmund Connolly (baritone) and his wife, Maxine Thevenot (piano), will present a recital on Thursday, October 30 at 7 p.m. at Robertson’s Recital Hall (inside Robertson’s Violin Shop at 3201 Carlisle Blvd NE).
The hour-long program is themed around the centenary of the outbreak of World War I, and features guest performers Debra Terry and Elena Sopoci on violin, and Spencer Beckwith (of KUNM) reading selections of war poetry. Music includes works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, Gerald Finzi, Ivor Gurney, and Robin Milford; poetry includes works by Siegfried Sassoon, Robert Graves, Charles Sorley, and Wilfred Owen.
Admission is free.
A repeat performance of the program will take place on Saturday, November 1 at 5 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church in Española (703 East Bond Street).
